Original paint or repainted: how to tell
A fresh coat hides dents, rust and welds. What to look at on the photos and the video.
Look at the boom pins and the edges of the hopper: original paint is worn through to metal where the operator's hands and the concrete go, and a repaint covers these spots evenly. Check the decals: factory decals sit under a clear coat, replaced ones sit on top of fresh paint.
Ask for a photo of the underside of the boom sections and the inside of the outrigger boxes. A repaint rarely reaches there, so you see the original surface and any rust.
We mark a unit as original paint only when we have seen it on the yard. Repainted units are listed as repainted, with the date if the seller knows it.
